Cooling Specialists

The invention of Freon in 1928 led to modern air conditioning. McVehil remained on the cutting edge by being one of the first in the area to offer cooling services.

Most air-conditioning problems should be handled by our experts, but there are a few things you can do to keep your air conditioner running smoothly.

Most condenser units are found outside and should be kept clear of obstructions. Clear the condenser unit from grass, weeds, shrubbery and vines and make sure it isn’t covered with leaves, outdoor furniture or other obstructions. Change or clean the filters regularly. Dirty filters restrict air flow, reducing efficiency and possibly causing the evaporator to ice up. Fiberglass filters should replaced. Electrostatic or electronic filters should be washed.

In addition, you should bring in one of our experts for an annual tune-up every spring. By doing these things, you will avoid many air-conditioning problems.

Some things to remember:

  • Do not wash or hose off the air conditioner unit because of a risk of electrocution.
  • An air conditioner low on refrigerant either was undercharged at installation or has a leak. Both should be handled by a trained technician.

If you happen to have a problem, McVehil will help you. We also can help you with installation of a new cooling system. Ask about our energy-saving cooling systems that can save you money.
