What is the difference between a furnace and a boiler?

You know that your furnace or boiler keeps you warm in the winter. But what is the difference? The main difference is that a furnace uses air to warm your home or business and a boiler uses water. In a furnace, the flame from the burner heats air, which is then distributed. In a boiler, the flame heats water that is distributed through pipes to radiators or sent to a fan coil to heat air.

Well-maintained furnaces and boilers should last you through many winters. You should bring in one of our experts for an annual tune-up every fall. In addition, an easy thing you can do to keep your furnace running efficiently is to change the filter every month. By doing these things, you will avoid many furnace and boiler problems.

But if you do happen to have a problem, McVehil will help you. We also can help you with installation of a new heating system. Ask about our energy-saving heating systems that can save you money.
